Fluke Calibration awarded patent for technology that reduces noise, improves accuracy in precision thermometers

 Everett, Wash., Nov. 7, 2012 – Fluke Calibration, a leader in precision calibration instrumentation and software, was awarded U.S. patent number 8253427 for its “resistance bridge architecture and method.” This circuit design reduces measurement “noise” in Fluke Calibration Super-Thermometers by using multiple analog-to-digital converters. As a result, the Super-Thermometers can compare the resistance of the thermometer they are measuring and the resistance of a reference standard resistor simultaneously instead of sequentially.

This market-leading method cancels the effects of noise and instability of the current source so that it no longer affects the resistance ratio measurement, improving accuracy without slowing down measurement speed.
