How to Calibrate Four Tri-Clamp Sanitary Sensors at a Time
The 6109A and 7109A Portable Calibration Baths provide four times more calibration throughput and twice the accuracy of Micro-Baths and dry-block calibrators.
This video shows how easy and efficiently these baths can calibrate four tri-clamp or sanitary sensors at the same time.

Let’s demonstrate how to calibrate four tri-clamp sanitary sensors at a time. We’ll use a 7109A-P model for this demo. The procedure is the same for a 6109A-P model as well.
The Fluke 7109A bath has a temperature range of minus 25 to 140 degrees Celsius. The tri-clamp sensors will be calibrated at three temperature points: 0, 70, and 140 degrees Celsius.
First, notice that the stir guard has MAX and MIN marks to indicate fill levels.
Fill the tank to the MIN level if your setpoint is greater than ambient. Fill just below the MAX level if your setpoint is less than ambient. If you’re using the optional overflow kit, remove the cap of the overflow tube and install the overflow tank.
Plug in the bath and power it on.
In this example, we’re using the 7109A process electronics as the thermometer readout. Connect a secondary reference PRT to the reference PRT input of the bath.
Use the optional adjustable probe-holding fixture to hold up to four tri-clamp temperature sensors.
The fixture fits inside the tank opening. The height of the platform is adjustable. Immerse the tri-clamp sensors with the flanges just below the surface of the fluid.
Place the Reference Probe in the center of the working area. The optional single probe clamp kit can be used to hold the reference probe in the optimum position.
On the control display, push the program button.
In program mode, you can define several setpoint temperatures. The 7109A bath has a range of minus 25 to 140 degrees Celsius. For this example, we have defined Program 1 with 3 setpoint temperatures – 0, 70, and 140 degrees, with a dwell time of 15 minutes at each setpoint.
Select Program 1 and then hit run program. The bath will begin cooling from room temperature to the first setpoint, which we have set to 0.
On the display, you’ll see the date and time, bath, setpoint, and reference probe temperatures.
The upper right corner of the display includes a control indicator and heating or cooling status.
The Control Indicator will show stable when the bath fluid is at the setpoint and ready for temperature measurement.
A Ready Indicator on the top of the bath also changes from amber to green when the bath has stabilized at the setpoint temperature, indicating that the bath is ready for you to collect data.
Manually record the temperature of the Reference Thermometer at the bath. Also record the tri-clamp sensor readings at the process control station.
The bath will then ramp up to the next two setpoints, 70 and 140 respectively.
Manually record the reference thermometer temperature at the bath and the tri-clamp sensor readings at the process control station for these two setpoints as well.
The 6109A and 7109A Portable Calibration Baths provide four times more calibration throughput with twice the accuracy of other baths in this class.
They’re designed for calibration efficiency and cleanroom use. Please visit our website for more information.
